Alexa+ is live for everyone, but with one limitation
Amazon’s Alexa+ AI chatbot is now available to everyone in the US — but there’s a catch
Amazon has expanded access to Alexa+, its generative AI–powered assistant, making it broadly available across the United States. The new version is designed to feel more like a modern chatbot: it can handle more natural, multi-turn conversations, tackle more complex requests, and help manage everyday tasks and smart-home routines.
What’s the catch?
Alexa+ may be “available to everyone,” but full access isn’t the same for all users:
-
Amazon Prime members in the US can use Alexa+ at no additional cost.
-
Non-Prime users can either use a limited free experience (mainly via the app/web) or pay for full access via a subscription.
In other words, it’s open to all—but the complete experience is effectively tied to Prime or a paid plan.
Where can you use it?
Alexa+ is accessible through supported Alexa devices, the Alexa mobile app, and Alexa on the web.
